Gov. Brian Schweitzer's appointments to the Community Service Commission include two Great Falls residents and an
enrolled member of the Blackfeet Tribe. "One of the best ways we can all help move Montana forward, help the last and
the least, or improve our own communities, is to volunteer or work for services that help those who need it," Schweitzer said in a
news release. "This group of people are committed to service and to improving the lives of Montana families."
The commission, established in 1993, seeks to encourage civic responsibility, engage youth in community service and expand
service opportunities in the state. The governor appointed Great Falls' Sheila Rice, a former state legislator. Rice
directs Neighborhood Housing Services, a nonprofit housing agency.
Robert E. "Bob" Harris of Great Falls also will serve on the commission. Harris, a retired U.S. Air Force member, remains active in
youth-related and community activities including Boy Scouts, United Way and the Red Cross. Schweitzer also appointed
Johnel Barcus of Browning, a member of the Blackfeet Tribe. Barcus, an educator, serves as executive director of the
Browning Community Development Corporation.
Other appointments are as follows: Tracy King of Harlem; Pat Murphy of Hamilton; Amy Busch of Broadview; Lindsey Rehder of
Missoula; and John Ilgenfritz Keith Kelly and John Allen of Helena.
Schweitzer reappointed County Commissioner Mike McGinley of Dillon and Bob Maffit with Montana Independent Living Project in
Helena to the commission.
